What is baklava?

Baklava might be a cuisine of the Ottoman Empire.  It is a rich pastry stuffed with nuts and sweetened with honey and syrup. It is a very popular dessert and is prepared on special occasions by Muslims, especially in Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

  Mainly prepared in large tubs with layers of phyllo dough.  It comes in several shapes, one of which is a long circle, the one I'm going to show you.


Make square baklava

“I tried the square baklava recipes repeatedly but never understood it. When someone plan to pick a touch upper layers come off in hand. So if you've this problem then this recipe is right for you. As there's hardly anything which may fail .

Repairing the baklava recipe

1.You need an extended stick, might be silver, steel or wood stick. Anything which isn't too thick will work fine.

2.Any nuts are often utilized in this recipe, pistachio, walnuts and almonds or the other you wish .

3.Temperature of your oven shouldn't be quite 180C and you would like to stay an eye fixed after half-hour so it won't burn.

4.Baklava should be hot and syrup should be cold once you immerse them together.

Baklava recipe ingredients

  • 6oz Almonds, finely chopped
  • 4oz Walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1oz castor sugar
  • 1tsp. Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 12 oz Phyllo Pastry
  • 2 cup Sugar, For Syrup
  • 2 cup Water, For Syrup
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick, For Syrup
  • 1 tsp. juice

How to prepare

1.Combine almonds,walnut, sugar and cinnamon together.

2.To make syrup , combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water by adding cinnamon and lemon. Let it boil and simmer for 10 minutes.Keep it aside.

3.Brush a 12 x 10 inch baking tray with butter.

4.Lay the phyllo sheets and spread the melted butter on first sheet then almond mixture. Roll it on wooden stick as shown in picture. Now butter the second sheet and spread some almond mixture thereon . Roll this sheet on first sheet.

5.Squeeze this rolled sheets with both hands, so it become removable. Repeat this procedure with remaining sheets untill all done.

6.Butter all the sheets on top and bake in preheated oven at 160C for 40 minutes or untill its light golden in colour. Its better if you narrow it at now as I forgot to try to to it while baking mine.

7.Remove from oven and slowly pour syrup thereon. Leave it for a minimum of 2,3 hours or for each day if you'll
